Why Massage Therapy?

Massage Therapy is used to manipulate soft tissue, mobilize joints, prevent injury, relieve pain, promote healing, and provide relaxation for your body, mind, and soul. Massage reduces cortisol (the stress hormone) levels in your body providing tissue repair and immune system support.

Research shows that Massage Therapy is proactive in relieving the symptoms of:

  • inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and tendinitis
  • repetitive strain injuries
  • sports injury
  • post surgery
  • motor vehicle accident including whiplash and air bag impact
  • fibromyalgia
  • pregnancy and labour discomfort
  • circulatory and respiratory issues
  • stress and anxiety
  • headaches and migraines
  • muscle, joint and nerve pain
  • back pain/postural dynamics

We are trained to provide:

  • Therapeutic Massage-specific work is done to treat areas of concern for each client.
  • Deep tissue- deep slow work is used to stretch and manipulate deeper lying muscles to maintain tissue health and alleviate adhesions.
  • Trigger Point Therapy-commonly referred to as knots, cause generalized pain and stiffness. Ischemic compression is used to ease myofacial pain.
  • Myofascial Release-fascia is the tissue that gives your body structure, form and shape. It is important to release your fascia from underlying structures in order to gain movement and maintain tissue health.
  • Lymphatic Drainage-movement of fluid in your body reduces local swelling and offers immune system support.
  • CranioSacral Therapy- gentle manipulation of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
  • Hydrotherapy-use of heat and cold applications to alleviate certain conditions and aid healing.
  • Therapeutic Exercise-individualized program to maintain symptom free movement.

How you can support the process:

  • Epsom salts-education about the use of Epsom salts is provided
  • Therapeutic exercise.-your therapist will provide you with an individualized program to maintain symptom free movement. It may include a series of progressive exercises to maintain the gains achieved in therapy.
  • Hydration-fresh filtered water is provided post treatment to flush toxins from your body.
  • Hydrotherapy-education about when and how to apply heat and cold therapy is provided.
